Where the dream of the coexistence of cultures and languages, such as medieval Toledo, survived the historical division and madness of the centuries and continued longingly into the Renaissance, the concert programme of the same name by Malte Vief and his fellow musicians begins: redemptive as well as opening.
In contrast to diametrically opposed blockbusters, the musicians move alive in the stream of time, almost longing for ancestors, they do not need to mimic anything. Because they – can play.
Thus a joyful (anticipatory) tension soon arises, as it is quickly clear which real “battle” here is finally, truly “fought”: the union of supposedly opposing poles, in humankind and in world.

On the other hand, with the support of old masters such as da Milano and Dowland, relaxing spaces are opened for letting your “soul dance on air”: through refreshing depths. Places to which every person should unconditionally be allowed to return. Introspective, relaxing and healing.
Grief also gets its place, does not stagnate and may, just as the entire wide spectrum of affected feelings, like a purifying stream, flow into an evincing human challenge, in the concert context as a whole.
In the sound of the instrumentation there is yet more substance: no occidental tradition without oriental.
And: no perfection without innovation. This Renaissance, too, lives on elements with diverse origins, as well as on contemporary creativity and the artisanal, visionary virtuosity of the airs of Malte Vief.
In this live programme, the dream of Toledo and the yearning that persists from the Renaissance are perfected centuries later, episodically, in coruscating moments.
